Born and raised in a suburb of Boston, Rabbi Edelman graduated from Brandeis University with a BA in English Literature. After several years of working in the fashion industry, teaching Hebrew School and interning at the Anti-Defamamation league, she attended Hebrew Union College- Jewish Institute of Religion both in Jerusalem and New York. Ordained as a Reform Rabbi in 1997, Rabbi Edelman has served as Rabbi of two congregations: Temple Emanu-El of Westfield, New Jersey and The Community Synagogue of Port Washington, New York.
As a Congregational Rabbi, Renee was able to create many special relationships, connecting people to Judaism and to the Torah. She is currently writing a work of non-fiction on Women Hasidic Rebbes which she hope to publish in the next year. Renee and her husband Shane are blessed with three young children, who challenge them daily. Rabbi Edelman has been able to spend time in Israel, France and London and love to travel to hike up or ski down a demanding mountain. Her other hobbies are tennis, boggle and meeting new people. She loves hearing people's stories and telling her own. As a result, most of the couples Rabbi Edelman marries end up becoming close friends.
